What is Art Nouveau(modernism)?

Art Nouveau is an architectural style that appeared in the late XIX - early XX centuries. In contrast to borrowings from artistic heritage of the past typical for XIX century, it tended to introduce an integral aesthetic world-view (created by means of art synthesis, new materials and structures).

Characteristic features of modern style:

-a tendency for complex solution of architectural, planning and decorative tasks (special attention is given to interior design)

-refined picturesque effects, preference to “liquid” forms that seem to reproduce the rhythms of wildlife, domination of floral ornaments (stylized lilies, irises, orchids) etc

During our tour we will see the most outstanding mansions in modern style (more than 10 buildings), also you will learn general infomation about Art Nouveau in Moscow and St. Petersburg, about the most outstandings architects (Shechtel, Kekuschev).
